Moissanite Questions
What is a moissanite?
Moissanite is a gemstone renowned for its near-diamond hardness, fire, and brilliance. It offers an affordable and ethical alternative to diamonds, making it a popular choice for various jewelry pieces.
How does moissanites compare to diamonds?
Moissanites almost matches diamonds in hardness, scoring 9.25 on the Mohs scale, compared to a diamond’s 10. While both gems are brilliant, moissanites can exhibit more fiery rainbow colors when exposed to light.
Are your moissanites ethically sourced?
Yes, all our moissanites are ethically sourced, ensuring they are conflict-free and sustainable gemstones.
Is moissanite a good choice for engagement rings?
Absolutely! Moissanite’s durability and sparkle make it an increasingly popular choice for engagement rings. It offers beauty and value, making it a great alternative to traditional diamond rings at a fraction of the price of a natural diamond.
How do I care for my moissanite and lab-grown diamond jewelry?
Both moissanite and lab-grown diamonds are very durable. However, to maintain their shine, avoid harsh chemicals and extreme temperatures. Regular cleaning with mild soap and water, followed by drying with a soft cloth, is recommended.

Lab Grown Diamonds
What are lab-grown diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds created in a controlled environment using advanced technological processes. These diamonds have the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as mined diamonds.
How do lab-grown diamonds differ from natural diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds are identical to natural diamonds in terms of their properties. The primary difference lies in their origin: lab-grown diamonds are sustainably created in labs, reducing environmental and ethical concerns associated with mining.
Are lab-grown diamonds a more ethical choice?
Yes, lab-grown diamonds are considered more ethical as they are produced without the environmental and social impacts associated with traditional diamond mining.
What is the difference between carat weight and size?
Carat weight and size are two different aspects of a gemstone. The carat weight refers to the gemstone’s mass, with one carat equating to 0.2 grams. On the other hand, size refers to the physical dimensions of the gemstone, typically measured in millimeters. While there’s a general correlation between carat weight and size, two gemstones of the same carat weight can appear different in size due to their cut and shape.
Can moissanite or lab-grown diamonds chip or break?
Both moissanite and lab-grown diamonds are known for their high hardness and durability. Moissanite, in particular, is harder than other common gemstones like crystal or cubic zirconia, making it less prone to scratches. However, like any gemstone, they can chip or break if subjected to severe impact or improper handling. It’s always advisable to wear and store your gemstones with care.
What are the trends in popular gemstone choices in engagement rings?
Lab-grown diamonds are currently a trending choice for engagement rings as they offer the same aesthetic appeal as natural diamonds at a fraction of the cost – typically about one-tenth of the price. Moissanites are also gaining popularity, especially for cosmetic jewelry, due to their affordability – often a quarter of the price of lab grown diamonds – and their perfect blend of durability and brilliance.
